This article examines the U.S. military’s presence in Puerto Rico through the lens of its public relations strategy during military exercises in Arroyo. Rather than debating necessity, it critiques how loyalty to the U.S. has been equated with support for the army, deepening identity divides. The core issue lies in the colonial context and strategic denial shaping Puerto Rico’s role in U.S. geopolitics.
